Preserving our Outdoor Heritage

The conservation movement began in the 19th Century when the hunting and fishing community, best exemplified by President Theodore Roosevelt, became alarmed at the decline of wildlife and pristine natural areas. The hunting and fishing community remains one of the most important funders and advocates for sustainable wildlife management and natural areas conservation. Our Foundation works closely with the FWC and many hunting and fishing groups and the outdoor recreation industry to keep Florida beautiful and abundant. In the past two years, we have

• Funded stewardship programs to improve habitat for deer, Osceola turkey, waterfowl and other game animals.

• Purchased land in New Smyrna Beach to create a new public boat launch

• Funded development of a smartphone app for reporting fish disease and mortality events

• Funded food plots, gun-cleaning stations and other improvements on state Wildlife Management Areas, including better access for the mobility-impaired.

• Underwrote a wide variety of youth hunting, archery and safety programs.
