Florida’s Everglades is one of the most important and fragile ecosystems in the world. For the past 30 years, that fragility has been threatened by the spread of invasive Burmese pythons. These large predators have severely impacted native wildlife, preying on birds, mammals, and reptiles that are essential to the Everglades’ balance. This year, however, new tools and partnerships have brought remarkable progress in the fight to protect Florida’s native species.
Our Foundation is proud to partner with Miami-based company INVERSA to help combat this challenge. INVERSA’s innovative technology and approach have played a key role in advancing python removal efforts, contributing to record-breaking results across the Everglades. In just three months during 2025, more than 1,000 pythons were removed, nearly triple the number from the same period the year before all thanks to a unique model that turns this conservation challenge into an opportunity for positive impact.
The company repurposes python skin into sustainable materials for the fashion industry, ensuring that the removal of invasive species contributes to both environmental and economic sustainability. Through this process, INVERSA is making charitable donations to our Invasive Species Fund to further support wildlife conservation and habitat restoration across Florida.
This partnership demonstrates how creative solutions and shared purpose can drive measurable conservation success. Each python removed from the wild is one more step toward restoring balance in the Everglades and safeguarding Florida’s ecosystems for future generations.
