For Heather Bisbee, owner of Quirky Natives Thrift & Gift in Boynton Beach, giving back is woven into the very fabric of her work. Each month her store selects a different charity to support, and our Foundation was honored to be a recipient of a $318.22 donation for our Conserving Wildlife Fund.

Her store’s name reflects both Heather’s playful personality, her lifelong roots in Florida, and her commitments to sustainability and community. The brick-and-mortar shop showcases these values with a thoughtful mix of curated secondhand finds, many high-end brands at a fraction of the cost, alongside new items from local artisans. After more than 48 years in Florida, giving back to conservation was a natural extension of the same care and respect that guide her work.

“For four generations, my family has had the privilege to enjoy life on the water and in the woods,” said Heather, noting her favorite Florida animal is the iconic manatee. “From lobstering in the Florida Keys, camping in Sebastian, biking, shelling, and birding in Sanibel…we love, appreciate, and respect all things nature.”

The donation to our Conserving Wildlife Fund supports research and projects for Florida’s most vulnerable species, like the Florida burrowing owl and Florida grasshopper sparrow. Heather’s story is a reminder that conservation isn’t only about big grants or large gifts. It’s about individuals and families who choose to make a difference however they can.
