Grants at Work: Empowering Girls Through Archery

This Women’s History Month, we’re celebrating the power of confidence, courage, and outdoor adventure—qualities the Girl Scouts of West Central Florida (GSWCF) instill in thousands of young girls each year. Thanks to a $20,000 grant from our Foundation, GSWCF will expand its archery program, allowing more young archers and outdoor enthusiasts to develop essential skills.

With over 5,700 girls participating in archery annually at its four camp properties, the program is a cornerstone of leadership, discipline, and skill progression. However, the demand far exceeds current capacity, and a lack of trained facilitators has created barriers, particularly those in rural areas. This funding will help train more adult volunteers as certified archery instructors, ensuring more future conservationists, regardless of background, have access to archery and the confidence-building experiences it provides.

By breaking financial barriers and investing in these programs, we’re investing in the next generation of leaders. With more trained facilitators, expanded programs, and increased accessibility across eight counties, the impact of this initiative will be felt for years to come. We’re proud to support efforts like these, ensuring every girl has the chance to discover her strength, sharpen her aim, and take her shot at success.

Our Foundation is able to support this work thanks to purchasers of our “deer” speciality license plate. Help us preserve Florida’s outdoor heritage and get yours today.
