HUNTING SEASON 2023: WATCH THE WORLD WAKE UP

Brandon Thompson wasn’t always a hunter, or even an angler. But growing up in central Florida surrounded by our state’s natural beauty enticed him to become the outdoorsman he is today. Now, he wants to share his wild Florida adventures with everyone.

Brandon’s love for wild Florida started with bass fishing. And who can blame him? With eight thousand lakes and over 1,300 miles of coastline, Florida is a fishing paradise. But his love for being surrounded by the sounds and sights of our incredible wildlife and ecosystems led him to hunting.

Hunting is for early risers — those who find contentment and peace in getting out into nature early. From the Panhandle to the Everglades, we have some of the most accessible and affordable public hunting lands in the country. Six million bountiful and beautiful acres are closer than you think.

Now through January 13, 2024, enjoy 50% discounts for Florida State Park Passes and FWC Hunting and Fishing Licenses! The following FWC Gold Sportsman licenses, which include saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing, hunting privileges, and all associated permits, will be available at the following rates:

  • Annual Gold Sportsman – $50.75
  • Five-year Gold Sportsman – $247.75
  • Lifetime Sportsman License
    • Age 4 or younger – $201.50
    • Ages 5–12 – $351.50
    • Ages 13 and older – $501.50

The second phase of Zone A’s general gun season and Zone B’s muzzleloading gun season open November 18, on lands outside of the WMA system. Be sure to buy your hunting license and deer permit before heading out. If you’re hunting during muzzleloading season, you’ll need a muzzleloading gun season permit, and if you’re hunting in a WMA, you’ll also need a management area permit. To help state management of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), report any sick/abnormally thin deer or deer dead of unknown causes to the CWD hotline: (866) CWD-WATCH (293-9282). Hunters are also being asked to voluntarily submit their deer heads for CWD testing (skull cap and antlers can be removed and kept). Click here for more information about CWD and the FWC’s response plan.

Like Brandon, our Foundation believes everyone should have the opportunity to experience all that Florida has to offer.
