Foundation Expands Board with Two Florida Leaders

St. Petersburg, FL (January 6, 2026) – The Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida is proud to announce the addition of two outstanding leaders to its Board of Directors: Christopher Carrere and Scott Bores. Both bring a deep connection to Florida and a strong record of leadership that will help advance the Foundation’s mission to conserve wild Florida.

Christopher Carrere is a fifth generation Floridian and a Tampa native. His passion for the outdoors developed as a child while spending significant time on Tampa Bay and in the woods of south Florida. After graduating from University of The South, Sewanee, Christopher spent several years as a first mate and captain on private sportfishing yachts. In 2003 he joined Galati Yacht Sales where he is still employed as one of the top performing yacht brokers specializing in Viking Yachts, Princess Yachts, and Valhalla Boatworks. He is a Certified Professional Yacht Broker and a member of the International Yacht Brokers Association.

Christopher currently serves as a director and Governance Committee Chair for Lykes Bros. Inc. In 2025, he was appointed and currently serves as Commissioner to the Tampa Port Authority. He is past Chairman of the Board of The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation and remains an active Board member and Executive Committee member.

Christopher and his wife Elizabeth have three children and live in the Tampa Bay area. He’s committed to passing down his passion for the outdoors to his children and ensuring they have the same opportunity to experience Florida as he did.

Scott Bores is the President of Florida Power & Light Company (FPL), America’s largest electric utility, delivering power to more than 6 million customer accounts across Florida. He previously served as President of Finance with responsibility for all the accounting, budgeting, forecasting, generation resource planning, financial analysis, and rates and tariffs at the utility. Prior to joining FPL, he spent five years at Mirant Corporation serving as the Manager of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, with responsibility for technical accounting research and external reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, working on a variety of banking and insurance clients.

He also serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a B.S. in Accounting and received his MBA from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is a licensed CPA in the State of Georgia. Mr. Bores lives with his wife and four children in Jupiter.

“We are thrilled to welcome Christopher and Scott to our Board,” said Laura Russell, chair of the Foundation’s Board. “Their leadership and commitment to wild Florida will help strengthen our work to conserve the wildlife and habitats that make this state so special.”
