SUPERVISOR: Accounting Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Bookkeeper supports the Accounting Manager in managing the finance and accounting affairs of the Fish and Wildlife Foundation of Florida. S/he assumes principal responsibility for creating and managing the Foundation’s financial transactions and related recordkeeping, generating reports as requested via the Foundation’s financial software and other sources. The Bookkeeper is supervised by the Accounting Manager and supervises interns and volunteers as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the account receivable function, including invoicing, payments, and collections.
- Manage the account payable function, including payments to vendors and recipients of Foundation grants.
- Oversee collection and reconciliation of travel and other receipts from Foundation staff.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal controls.
- Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and collecting financial information for the Foundation’s annual audit, inquiries from the Foundation Board of Directors, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, donors and other parties.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with preparation of the quarterly financial reports.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with other accounting, special projects, and administrative duties as assigned.
- Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- An associates degree and three years’ experience.
- Demonstrated financial analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting standards.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
