What better way to celebrate National Make a Difference Day this Saturday than contributing to Hurricane Michael recovery? On October 10, Hurricane Michael roared ashore in the Florida Panhandle. Classified as a category 4 storm with winds reaching 155 miles per hour. It was the third most powerful hurricane to ever hit the U.S. mainland.
The effects of this storm have been devastating. Trees were uprooted, power lines were destroyed, roofs were demolished, and people are in need. More than 380,000 buildings and homes suffered a loss of electricity. Since Michael moved so quickly, many people did not have the opportunity to prepare, thereby magnifying the damage.
We know many FWC first responders and staff have lost their homes. If you would like to make a donation, please click here. Your help can provide a tarp for their roof, temporary housing, and other necessities. No gift is too small. Thank you!
