Mark your calendars: the I.CARE Second Annual Trash Derby, a Keys-wide cleanup event, is happening May 2nd-May 5th, 2024! As a $5,000 event sponsor, our Foundation is proud to support marine conservation and cleanup efforts in the Florida Keys.
Kicking off on May 2nd with a team leader meeting, the Trash Derby will involve two days of debris collection from Key Largo to Key West on May 3rd and 4th. Participation is free. You can claim a spot on a dive boat, use your private boat, kayak, or paddle board, or simply walk the shoreline for a land-based cleanup. Teams and individuals will be judged by the average weight of debris collected per person (pounds/person). Winners of $3,250 in cash prizes will be announced on May 5th at an awards ceremony in Founders Park on Islamorada.
If you want to sign up as an individual or team participant, click here. Cleanup efforts within the NOAA Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary will occur under a permit.
