January 2025

Dear Dani,

As the new year begins, I want to make 2024 a year of giving back. Do you have tips for setting charitable goals or making impactful contributions early in the year?

Generous in January, Naples, FL

Dear Generous in January,

What a wonderful way to kick off the year! Setting charitable goals in January not only ensures you follow through, but it also helps you make a bigger impact. Here are some tips to start 2024 as a generous giver:

  1. Reflect on Your Passions: Take time to think about what causes mean the most to you—whether it’s Florida panthers or getting kids outside. Prioritizing your passions will help you focus your giving.
  2. Make a Plan: Write down your giving goals, including how much you’d like to give, which organizations you want to support, and any deadlines. Having a clear plan makes it easier to stick to your intentions.
  3. Explore Tax-Smart Options: Early in the year is the perfect time to think about tax-advantaged giving. For example, donating appreciated stocks or setting up a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA can benefit both you and the charities you love.
  4. Think Long-Term: If you’re considering leaving a legacy, start a conversation about planned giving. Designating a nonprofit like our Foundation in your will or as a beneficiary of your IRA is simple and impactful.
  5. Act Early: Many organizations run programs or initiatives year-round. By giving at the start of the year, you’re helping them budget and plan better for the months ahead.

The start of a new year brings endless opportunities to make a difference. Here’s to making 2024 a year filled with generosity and impact!

Warm regards,

Dani
