The future of Florida’s Coral Reef is uncertain. Many stressors, ranging from rising water temperatures, invasive species like lionfish, coral bleaching, and stony coral tissue loss disease, threaten North America’s largest coral reef.
Despite covering only 1% of the ocean floor, 25% of marine life relies on healthy reefs. They serve as nurseries for sport fish like grouper and snapper, sanctuaries for species like rays and sea turtles, and natural buffers for Florida’s shoreline against hurricanes.
We’ve enlisted the help of an animated coral polyp to help us tell the story.
Our Foundation is proud to be a part of the Florida Coral Rescue Center. Along with partners like the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, SeaWorld, Disney Conservation Fund, and more, this one-of-a-kind facility is a crucial step in saving our coral reef. To ensure that the reef is around for the next generation to experience, we’re calling on coral heroes to help by donating to our coral fund to support the center and other coral projects.
